Dog Hotel

FAQ
How can I make my dog a customer?
All new dogs first come for an introductory visit about 30-45 minutes. After that, a free trial day of about four hours is arranged. Once the trial day has gone well, your dog is welcome to join our daycare according to your needs – daily, with daycare passes, or on a pay by visit basis.
What kind of dog can become a daycare customer? (age, breed, rescue, problem dog)
Dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages are welcome. The dog should be at least about 5 months old, but age is always considered individually, and there is no upper age limit. The dog must be house-trained, reasonably social, able to cope in a pack without becoming anxious, and know basic obedience and dog etiquette.
Rescue dogs and dogs with problem behavior are also welcome: about 30% of the dogs in our care have a rescue background, and our staff have over 10 years of experience with various adjustment and separation-anxiety cases. So-called problem dogs – for example overactive, timid, or dogs in need of socialization – can also be accepted into care, as long as the dog does not behave aggressively.
Does breed or size matter?
Breed or size doesn’t matter – every day our care includes dogs of all sizes and breeds together in the same pack. The most important thing is that the dog gets along with different dogs and doesn’t become anxious in pack situations. If a dog hasn’t previously been socialized to other dogs or hasn´t visited dog park, that doesn’t automatically prevent it from joining care – this is assessed during the trial day.
What should be considered before starting care?
The dog should be walked and given a chance to relieve itself before arrival, since we do not walk the dog for you in the morning. The dog must be healthy, up to date with vaccinations (including rabies and the combination/DHPPi vaccine), external parasite treatment optional. A dog will not be accepted into daycare if it has a diarrhea, a runny nose/sneezing, a cough, or appears clearly listless – a sick dog is isolated from the others and the owner is asked to pick it up.
What should be considered regarding males and females?
Both neutered and intact males are welcome, as long as the dog doesn’t mark places constantly, harass other dogs, or behave aggressively – male aggression always leads to immediate removal from daycare.
Females don’t need to be spayed, but a female in heat cannot be brought in: heat usually lasts 4–6 weeks, and the dog can return to care at the earliest about 2-4 weeks after the heat ends. If the heat begins during a daycare day, the owner must pick up the dog as soon as possible.
Daycare routine and outings (dog park visits)
We have around 12 to 25 dogs in our daycare each day, depending on location, divided into groups based on play style and preferences. In the morning, we usually set off around 10.30 a.m. on a trip to nearby dog parks and green areas – regardless the weather! All our venues are located withing walking distance from dogparks and forest areas. Then the second outing is in the afternoon, the dogs go on a shorter walk around 3 p.m. Staff are present at all times supervising, and the dogs are never left alone.
Daycare prices (day care, punch cards)
Day care on weekdays costs €40/day (7 a.m.–6 p.m.), and €55/day on weekends (9 a.m.–6 p.m.). During peak seasons and public holidays, 20% is added to the price. Hourly care for an half day stay costs €20 for the first two hours, then €8/hour (weekdays only, max. 5 hours).
Multiple entry passes ie cards are available in three options: a 10-visit card (€360), a 20-visit card (€610), and a monthly card (€550). Prices include walks, play time and treats.
Can my dog come to the dog hotel?
Our dog hotels at Espoo and Herttoniemi, Helsinki primarily serve our own daycare customers, since space is limited. If there is room at the hotel, we’re also happy to accept dogs who aren’t daycare customers – it’s always worth asking about availability. Before the boarding we always meet your dog for an evaluation day to ensure that your dog will be ok at our doghotel and can handle the pack living.
How does Koiraparkki’s dog hotel differ from other dog hotels?
We are what’s known as an European, cage-free dog hotel: the dogs live together as a pack in a home-like environment, staff are present around the clock, and there are only about 10 to 15 dogs in care at a timem depending on venue. The dogs get to lie on sofas and cushions, watch television, and go on walks in forests and fields and to the dog park – just like at home.
What is included in the dog hotel price and service?
The price includes food of your choice (tell us what brand), all treats, forest and field walks, dog park visits, activities and playtimes, accommodation together with other dogs, and round-the-clock supervision. If needed, we can also arrange a quiet space for your dog. We send photos and videos of your dog directly to you, and we don’t charge anything extra beyond the agreed price.
How much does the dog hotel cost, and how does check-in/check-out work?
A hotel overnight cost is €70 on weekdays and €80 on weekends; during peak seasons 20% is added to the price. the stay starts from the moment the dog is dropped off, and and ends at agreed time on the day of pick up. The dog can be dropped off and picked up at any time time between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Cancellation is free of charge up to 3 days before beginning of boarding (7 days during peak season); later cancellations cancellation fees are charged 20–50% of the price, and in the case of a no-show, the full price.
What if my dog doesn’t behave well? (rescue dogs and problem dogs)
Rescue dogs and dogs needing special attention are welcome with us – we have long-standing experience with even difficult cases, and this is not a barrier to joining Koiraparkki dogs. The only condition is that the dog can cope with others without becoming anxious and is not aggressive. We always meet your dog before start of daycare or boarding, for an evaluation day, where we assess whether the dog is suited to the pack environment and whether special arrangements are needed.
What is the daily routine like at the dog hotel?
The day starts early, around 6:30 a.m. with a morning walk and breakfast. Around 10.30 a.m. a longer walk begins, often lasting up to hours, in the forest, fields, or dog park. In the afternoon there’s rest and play, with a second long walk at 3 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. In the evening there’s one more walk, after which the house settles down for the night at 10 pm– one of our dog handlers is always present, even at night.
How can I get my dog trained with you, and what does it require of me?
Our Dog Training always starts with an evaluation, during which we observe your dog’s behavior, identify contributing factors (breed, environment, possible physical causes), and map out any behavioral issues. The most important thing is to find our the real reason for your dogs behavior. The evaluation is either a visit of 1,5 hours or day care day during which we do that evaluation. It also include an opening and closing discussion, in which we share our observations and propose a plan going forward.
The evaluation visit of 1,5 hrs costs 150 euros, a daycare day/evalution costs €100 (includes daycare €40 and evaluation 60€).
How is the training done, and who trains?
We only use positive reinforcement methods. Training can be carried out alongside daycare, on a separately agreed evening or weekend one-on-one, or as a longer Boot Camp period.
Training is done by our experienced certified Dog Trainers, as well as our trainer who specializes in problem dogs and rescue dogs, with over 15–20 years of experience. All training is individual and tailored for your dog, and owners always receive guidance and training on using the same methods at home.
How much does dog training cost?

Training related to rescue dog issues
Training designed for rescue dogs is always tailored, focusing on managing fear reactions and stress, safe socialization, basic obedience (sit, stand, come, stay), and mental stimulation and enrichment. The goal is to build the dog’s trust in people and its environment, which makes settling into a new home easier.
We have over 10 years of experience on training and handling rescue dogs from all over the world – all sizes and all ages. Training is available at all our locations, and if needed we also offer home visits. Price: first meeting and evaluation €150/1.5 h, follow-up sessions €70/hour.
My dog has problems and no training has worked – how can you help?
- We first need to find our what is the real reason for that behavior, check whether there is a physical cause behind the behavior – if needed, we recommend a vet visit
- We look into behavior typical of the dog’s breed and background
- We find out when and how the problem behavior began and in which situations it occurs
- We draw up an individual training plan based on our observations
- The most difficult cases can be handled with a Boot Camp period, during which the dog is in our care around the clock
- Boot Camp is minimum for 7 days, up to several weeks if needed
- Boot Camp is held at the Herttoniemi or Espoo dog hotel
- Our trainers are with your dog 24 hours a day during the period
- Incorrect behavior is addressed immediately, and correct behavior is reinforced positively
- The dog also learns from other well-behaved dogs and from the pack
- Training methods and goals are agreed in writing before the period begins
- The owner regularly receives photos, videos, and progress reports

Can I change my dog’s behavior through training?
In most cases it can be done, provided that we find the real reason causing the unwanted behavior. A professional assessment is always the first step: it’s used to determine the causes of the behavioral problem and whether there’s an underlying factor such as pain or a health issue.
Training is one of the most effective ways to influence a dog’s behavior, and in most cases it brings at least some relief – often the problem can be removed entirely. However, some behavior is related to breed and genetics and may not be fully eliminated through training, only reduced.
Hourly care – what is it and when should you use it?
Hourly care suits situations where a dog needs day care for just a few hours, for example during a hairdresser visit, cleaning, or lunch. The price is €20 for the first two hours, then €8/hour, up to a maximum of 5 hours. The service is also suitable for puppies or timid dogs as a controlled way to get used to other dogs. Bookings must be made by the evening before at the latest.
Gift card for dogs
A gift card is suitable, for example, as a preset for a play session at daycare, a few days of daycare, or a hotel weekend. You can choose the content and value of the card yourself or select a ready-made package. The gift card is valid for 12 months, can be used at all locations, and can also be transferred to a third party.
Which locations do we serve?
We operate dog daycares in Kamppi and Latokaski, Espoo in the Helsinki area, in Herttoniemi, and in Mukkula, Lahti (Closed for renovations). Dog hotel service is available in Espoo and Herttoniemi. Dog training is offered at all locations, and our trainer specializing in problem dogs works especially at the Herttoniemi location.
Care agreement and registration
Get in touch when you’d like to bring your dog to us for day care or a hotel stay. We first arrange a 30-45 minute get-to-know-you visit, followed by a trial day of up to 4-5 hours. Before your dog comes for a first time an client registration form is filled out on our website – this only needs to be done once, after which your dog is welcome to all our locations. On the first visit we check the dog’s vaccination certificate. Without a completed client registration form and up-to-date vaccination information, a dog cannot be accepted into our care.
Cancellation terms and insurance
Cancellation terms vary by service: for daycare, cancellation without charge must be made by the evening before at the latest; for the dog hotel, at least 3 days in advance (7 days during peak season). Late cancellations and no-shows are charged a separately agreed cancellation fee of 20-50% of the care fee, and 100% in case of a no-show.
HauHau dog massage
We offer dog massage at our Kamppi and Herttoniemi locations by our trained massage therapist Darja, as well as home visits if needed. Massage is suitable for, among other things, relieving muscle tension and pain, and for general well-being. Bookings by phone or email.

Who is responsible for my dog during care?
While your dog is in our care, responsibility for its wellbeing and supervision passes to our staff for the full duration of the day or stay. Your dog is always under a carer’s supervision — during opening hours in daycare, and around the clock in the hotel. The care agreement sets out responsibility, insurance, and how exceptional situations are handled in more detail.
How qualified is our staff?
Everyone who works with the dogs is trained, and some of our staff are certified animal caretakers. Our team has years of experience — some with over 10-15 years — with all kinds of dogs, including rescue dogs and dogs with behavioural challenges. We continuously train our staff in reading dog behaviour and safe pack management.
What happens if my dog is injured or falls ill?
If your dog is injured or falls ill while in our care, we contact you immediately and take the dog to a vet if needed. We always act in the dog’s best interest and try to reach the owner as quickly as possible before making care decisions, unless the situation requires immediate action. All exceptional situations are covered in more detail in the care agreement.
How do we handle customer and dog data (data protection)?
We only collect the information necessary for care (contact details, vaccination records, care agreement) and process it in accordance with data protection regulation (GDPR). Your data is not shared with outside parties without your consent, and is kept only for as long as the customer relationship is active or as required by law. You can request to review or delete your data at any time by contacting us.
